Birthday Blessings and Hello Kitty
Today is a very special day for a very special friend of mine. My dearest Butterfly Temptress has hit a major milestone in her life, she’s turned 30 today! Yay! Happy Birthday Sweetheart! Please, if you have a free moment, pop over there and send her some birthday love! Me? Oh, I’m still 29! Nah, who am I kidding? In a couple of years I’ll be 40 and it’s all downhill from there. Luckily I’m still riding my sexual peak and hopefully I’ve got a few years left of it too, but turning thirty is huge. Most of us lose our minds a little bit around that weird age. We realize that it’s time to start thinking about growing up and getting our act together, even if it takes us a while to get there. We realize that we’re not teenagers anymore, and that the things we got away with in our capricious youth don’t fly anymore, and eventually we have to grow up, even just a little bit, but we do. Getting older tho doesn’t mean that you have to trade in your youthful spirit, because that’s what keeps you young, but one does begin to recognize that taking some responsibility for one’s own life might be a good idea.
I’ve been inundated with work stuff today; a couple of conference calls and a quick IM conversation with a friend has more or less been all I’ve had time for, but I did want to pop up and make an appearance today not only to wish my sweet Butterfly a Happy Birthday, but to apologize for my backlog of emails that I simply haven’t had time to get to. As it stands now, I owe Jonathan, Crystal, KJ, Butterfly, Erin, Caitlain, Amy, Sarah, JW, and Christoph replies. I am SO sorry! Please forgive me for being such a miserable slacker! I will try and answer everyone soon, I promise!
I did get a completely unexpected surprise email today from a friend of mine in San Francisco that has completely made my day, informing me that she found something that I’ve been searching for; she’s found a Hello Kitty Vibrator for me! Okay, let me back up a bit. I’ve been looking for a Hello Kitty Vibrator for like, forever. They’re not made anymore, but every once in a while you find someplace, usually online, selling them. A little history is in order here.
Hello Kitty is a Japanese icon and in the late 90’s the company which owns the likeness rights (Sanrio) licensed the character to a company which made several products bearing the Hello Kitty likeness, including a body massager. Soon these massagers started showing up in Japanese adult videos as sex toys, and not long after that you could find them being sold in vending machines at your local prefecture’s Love Hotel. Yay!
This however was not what Sanrio had in mind. After some government intervention, the company which made the Hello Kitty Vibrators was shut down, and all the molds for the toy were destroyed, but the Hello Kitty was forever enshrined in sex toy lore. And now I’m getting one!

Oh, Nina!!
I’ve just come from my birthday dinner and it was lovely. With kids along we decided on Joe’s Crab Shack and I knew I was in for some embarrassment. So, I ordered up a drink and let it come. They handed me pom-poms and a fake megaphone the told me to shout “Hooray it’s my birthday!” atthe pauses. I laughed like an idiot and was twice as mortified.
Coming home to see your post made me smile. Today has been an amazingly wonderful day, a special way to end my twenties. Thank you for your friendship and for the wonderful birthday wishes.

How like you to do something so lovely for such a special lady. I haven’t commented here (or anywhere) but you’re words about turning 30 struck such a chord. I can remember not so much feeling that I needed to see myself as a grown up now, but getting a wonderful feeling that, at long last, some others finally saw it too.
And hey, turning 40’s not so bad either….I’m closer to the next ‘big O’ now, and life in many ways has never been better!!

What a wonderful post about turning 30! That is so special to celebrate your friend in such a heart warming way!!! 30 is knocking on my door as well and I often ponder about that. How am I gonna feel considering I still feel 18 inside? Hmmm…I hope and don’t think that will change.:)

Well, Butterfly is my friend, and I wanted to remember her birthday. Turning 30 is a major milestone, especially in a woman’s life. And you’re approaching 30 too? Wow! Now I feel old! Hahaha! Just kidding.
I don’t think you’ll change tho; I think we grow more than change. I mean, I know that I think about things and see things a little differently now than I did before I turned 30, but I’m still fundamentally the same person. We all get older, there’s no getting around that, but how we age and grow says more about who we are than anything else.
You don’t have to apologize sweetheart. We all have to find balance in life, and believe me, while this journal is a part of my life, its not my entire life. I keep it up and write here because it makes me happy and I enjoy it. Writing for me is how I express myself. I have to write if that makes any sense. Part of it is a love of words, and another part of it is about exploring the things I think and feel. Sharing that with others is a bonus. But I am glad that you enjoy my site, and I’m glad that you share part of yourself with me too. That is what truly makes me happy, that sharing.

I’m still considering the Aneros but not entirely sure about getting a toy at the moment..
