YouTube Tuesday: Live Earth and then Some

So, if you spent your weekend like I did; (lying on a beach screaming ‘Pass the tanning butter, baby!’) - you probably missed the Live Earth concerts which took place on all seven continents last Saturday, unless of course you were in attendance at one of the worldwide venues. From what I’ve read online, it seems as tho the shows went very well, despite a little bit of criticism from Big Rock Show Honcho Bob Geldof, who seemed to be more pissed off that Al Gore stole his idea rather than having anything useful to say about the message. We here in geishaland like our green, and always try to do what we can to promote recycling, reuse, and conservation, but let’s be honest, it’s all about the music isn’t it? Well, maybe not… it’s brutally hot outside and this lazy geisha’s central air is cranked up to Santa at the North Pole levels. Tho the undisputed hi-lite of Live Earth has to be the performance by The Police! We have tickets to see them in Boston on the 28th of this month at Fenway Park! Yay! But for this YouTube Tuesday, I’ve found four clips of the band’s Live Earth performance to share with you, in case, like me, you missed it the first time!

Enjoy your Tuesday! I’m off to answer some comments and email, and then the drudgery of work. Maybe only a half day today… it’s hot! Global warming you know…

As of 6pm on 7/11/07, YouTube has pulled these video clips, probably because of some copyright bullshit… sorry! Hope you enjoyed them while they were active!

Oh Nina, Thank You!!
How did you know I needed some Sting/The Police? I missed any-&-all broadcasts, and am not quite savvy enough to remember to check out YouTube. You’re so lucky that you get to go see them in person. Have a fantastic time!

Terry

Fantastic, Nina. I didn’t even know that the Police were touring again. How exciting! Thanks for sharing the clips you found.

Hey Nina, great clips, you’re sure to love the concert. Just passed thru s.florida. No unfortunately unable to go due to work schedule, as for the heat, you northerners get all hot and bothered when the temp rises, hell, I’ll take a few 85-90 days anytime. Pushing high 90’s here, moving up to the 70 spf or I’ll be red as a lobster. Good to see you back, I’m sure you caught Josh’s performance last night, not bad, too bad for “Big Papi” tho. Hope all is well, enjoy the warm weather while you have it…oh, and my sons trip to the northeast has brought up some old feelings in him. It’s been a little tough getting him to get back into the groove here. The sweet kid did bring me a couple of Red Sox shirts he bought while up in CT. Looks like we’ll be heading up that way for Christmas ,New Year…had to promise him due to his slight depression. Honestly, I can’t wait to get up there and feel the cool air…take care Nina.

Hi Terry!

Yeah! They were great clips while they lasted!!! YouTube has pulled them tho,

We’re looking forward to seeing them in Boston! My husband saw them back in 1983, but I’ve never seen them live. We’re both huge fans tho!

Thanks hon!

nina

Hi Tina,

Yes, they’ve been on tour for a while now. If you click the link in my post it brings you to their tour site and maybe you can catch them!

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Yes the clips were cool, too bad YouTube pulled them tho.

Well, I don’t like the heat. When we lived in S. Florida the heat was the biggest reason we moved back home. I didn’t watch much of the All Star game last night. I did see Josh pitch, but after A-Rod tanked a grounder to third I just turned it off. I’m glad the AL won tho.

I hope you enjoy the Northeast!

Thanks!

I’ve never seen The Police in concert, but I’ve seen Sting close to 5 or 6 times now. It’s killing me that I can’t afford to travel & get tickets. The tickets alone just about do me in. How I would LOVE to see them, but sometimes that’s what dreams are for.

Just have a great time, and don’t rub it in too much when you get back! :)

Hi Terry!

I’m really looking forward to seeing them! I’ve seen Sting once and it was pretty good, but I’ve always wished to see The Police and hear all of those wonderful songs preformed by the three of them. Concert tickets are ridiculously expensive now, I mean, the last big show I’ve been to was U2 in Boston and that cost a fortune too! – who can afford to do that all the time?? It’s crazy! But seeing The Police I think is going to be like a ‘once in a lifetime’ kind of opportunity, so we just had to get tickets. They are playing two shows in Boston, at Fenway Park of all places! If the Live Earth performances were any kind of indication, the show is going to be awesome! My husband saw them in New Haven back in 1982 I think he told me, and he said they were simply amazing! I won’t rub it in, I promise!

Thanks sweetie!
