It’s time to tweak geishaland a bit, and it seems as if I don’t have a To Do list staring me right in the face, I never get anything done. It isn’t that I procrastinate, not even in the slightest, it’s just that I’m so incredibly busy and stretched so thin most of the time that I just run out of gas when it comes time to doing things that I want to do. Between being a wife and mother, having a career and then taking care of a house with everything that goes along with that, like the grocery store, laundry, cooking, and shopping, there just aren’t enough hours in the day. My husband suggested that I quit working and just become a ProBlogger, but that kind of scared me… I mean, who the hell wants to be that tethered to cyberia? This was supposed to be an escape, not a career choice, but, there are some things I need to do here, so, I’m making a list, and hopefully I might actually accomplish something.

I’m probably going to leave the basics of the site and how it operates alone. I’m in no mood to start digging into my CSS and PHP calls, so the overall aesthetics of geishaland are going to stay the same. Tho the guys at Glued Ideas who did my original site design have shut down their website, so I guess I’m on my own now! But, it isn’t like I need them for anything anyway, so we’re good. I do like the minimalist flair and vibe of my site design and I do like consistency. Not that I’m criticizing anyone, but it completely befuddles everytime I visit a site I like and there’s a completely new design to contend with, so I’m not making those kinds of changes. However there are some things I do need to look at:

• Plugins – I need to explore some Wordpress plugins to address a couple of little holes here. One of the operational things I don’t like about my site is the lack of comment preview and comment editing by author, but I’ve found a couple of plugins which may fix that, so I need to test them to see if they’re compatible.

I’m probably not going to activate user login or gravatars because they tend to slow down Apache, and I want to keep the site software and database running as fast and smooth as possible.

• Pages – I need to completely redo the About, Links, Media, Reviews, and Press pages, and I need to deal with my Blogroll at some point as well. All of that needs to be cleaned up and dusted off a bit to make sure things are current and still make sense. So, if you’d like to be linked or want your link removed or have something to add in that area, please let me know.

• Content – I have a box of sex toys which I’d love to get reviewed in time for Valentines Day! (We’ll see how that goes!) – plus, I still have a lot of things I want to write about and discuss. The whole process of moving away from sex blogging has in some ways come full circle. While I don’t necessarily write about my own erotic experiences or fantasies anymore, I still feel that I have some things of value to add to the discussion, and I may actually like to return to some of that in the future, but I have many other interests which often supersede that, so I suppose we’ll just have to go with the flow and see how things work out. No pressure, right?

I make it a point to test my site in a number of different browsers from time to time and so far I’ve found that the site looks best using Safari, followed by IE 7, and then Firefox. For some reason the font scaling isn’t terrific in Firefox and I’m not entirely sure why that is. Things look beautiful in Safari (and IE 7 for that matter), but sometimes the text looks a little bunched together in Firefox. If anyone has a suggestion about that one, please get in touch with me. I’m not sure if it’s an encoding issue or a CSS issue.

So, it’s snowing here again today. My son spent the weekend at his best friend’s house, so it’s just me and Jeffrey hanging out together. Our wild birds aren’t so impressed with the snow, and this really has been one of the coldest winters that I can remember, (my gas bill is going to be enormous…ugh) – but winter does give us the opportunity to enjoy Stay Naked Sundays together, and we’ll probably land in bed for a late afternoon romp sooner or later!
