So, the upgrade is done! A good thing? meh.

There are however some issues. Aren’t there always?

For the most part, everything went smooth. The database behaved as predicted, and the widgets moved over without much trouble either. In fact, the whole upgrade went a lot smoother than I expected, which is a good thing.

Issues so far

The categories are all screwed up, so that means at some point I’m going to have to clean everything up - giant pain in the ass - and the Sanctuary section has vanished. For some reason that category didn’t want to make the trip for the upgrade and all of those entries all somehow managed to get dumped into Sports, go figure. I guess it kinda makes sense tho… things about my sex life in the sports category? I can live with that. Tho the password to open all of that still works, but I think the problem was caused because I also have a page named Sanctuary and Wordpress wasn’t hip to the idea of having a page and category having the same name, and the page won.

What else… Oh right. Some categories got duplicated and I’m not quite sure how that happened, but when I clean everything up that should get sorted out.

Tags seem to be an issue but I think there’s a workaround for that.

The Links page & Blogroll is an absolute mess — so that’s the next project — along with making some changes to the other widgets here.

And on the most weird side, the header image and other graphics associated with the site don’t seem to want to display in Firefox or Safari, but in IE the site looks perfectly fine. I’ve got a ‘batsign’ out to the guys who might be able to answer that one, so we’ll have to wait and see what shakes out. Other than that, everything “seems” to be working at this stage. I’d appreciate some feedback if others find any issues or weirdness with the site, and no you can’t include content.
