ESPN Sunday Night Baseball

Random thought of the moment; Joe Morgan and John Miller are the worst announcers to ever call a baseball game – and as expected; New York Yankee apologist and all around Alex Rodriguez sycophant Joe Morgan is spewing enough Yankee spunk tonight on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball that I’ve been compelled to mute my television and state of the art sound system and have resorted to turning on a portable AM radio so I can listen to the game on a local Boston station.

If this were the YES Network I’d expect this – but even DonnyO. and the Remdawg who announce for NESN and the Red Sox aren’t as bad as Morgan and Miller – but ESPN isn’t the YES Network!

ESPN – you guys suck. Go back to covering extreme dirt-biking because you assholes have no business covering baseball games. Red Sox Nation says: Fuck You.

Red Sox 7 – Yankees 1
Top of the 4th

OnEdit: Final Score - Red Sox 8 — Yankees 5

whew - heckuva day for you:

maple syrup & pancakes, a little cyber-stirring,
rude blasts from the past, and a sox/yanx donnybrook to top it all off.
blood pressure must have been rising all day long.

about “purple rain” (which showed up in one of sunday’s references):
am a huge prince fan, went to the film when it opened, lo these many years ago, and it remains one of the few films I’ve ever walked out on. why? about fifteen minutes in, when a woman gets unceremoniously dropped into a dumpster, my wife says, “that’s it, I’m outta here.”
I was dumbfounded, but I think she was right.
just another chapter in the education of the man-child.

still love prince’s music, but a lot of the thrill is gone, kwim?

larokkaku,

lmao! Just a typical day in the life of the little buddhist girl from boston known as the lazy geisha and her box of crayons! ;)

Well — The maple syrup was yummy! The cyber-stirring I addressed here, and the Red Sox, especially Daisuke Matsuzaka had me nervous all night, and I was completely infuriated over having to listen to Joe Morgan and John Miller call the game.

I loathe when the Red Sox are on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. Maybe I’m just spoiled from DonnyO. and Remdawg on NESN. They’re real pros — I mean sure, they’re the “local” broadcast for the Boston Red Sox — but they’re FAIR! It’s never a case of the “homers” kwim?

Tho I also managed to finally get my lelo elise review done too! So yes - a productive and overall enjoyable stay naked sunday for me.

Really? Wow! I can’t believe she wanted to walk out of Purple Rain. I mean, okay, the movie was incredibly self serving to Prince, but the story wasn’t terrible — and the love scene between Prince and Apollonia is one of the hottest things I’ve ever seen on film! I get all ‘moist’ just thinking about it!

I mean - WOW!!!

But like many geniuses, their eccentricity often goes hand in hand with their brilliance. His music at one time was so incredible, so intense, that it was hard not to simply want to absorb every note. Then it just got weird. I bought Come not to long ago on iTunes and what an amazingly underrated album. It’s become one of my new faves.

Tho yes - I do understand - a lot of the thrill is gone for me too. We’ve actually seen him live a few times - and it’s always a brilliant performance.

Tigers still sucking balls….0 to 11 Sox win…..damn’t :(

Hey Ryan!

Yes I know — The Tigers are in last place in the AL Central. But Baltimore and Toronto are tied for first in the AL East.. Boston is in 3rd (but NY is in 4th!!!)

The Red Sox play the Indians tonight! Game starting now! Yay! And it’s on NESN too!!

The Tigers play who? The Twins next?

Oh, dear God, I feel you on Joe Morgan. He, like John Madden, feel like they have to talk ALL THE FUCKING TIME, and point out even the most obvious things. I am a HUGE Atlanta Braves fan and any time ESPN carries one of their games with that nutjob providing commentary, I have to keep that shit muted, too. I just want to bang my head on the table by the end of the first inning.

I’ve said on many occasions if I ever find the person who invented the mute button, I’ll kiss the mo fo.

just think it was
the girl in the garbage thing
that did it for her -
this whole culture’s pervasive
subjugation of women.

gotta admit she’s got a point -
hell, she’s got a whole damn line!
(though you’re making me sorry
to have missed the apollonia scene)

still, prince is probably the best thing
to ever happen to 80’s american pop,
and his club helped kick start & revitalize
a whole neighborhood in downtown minneapolis.
I agree the guy’s a genius, and you’re right,
he’s playing even better than ever now.

so maybe he should be forgiven
some self-indulgent adolescent stupidity.

Caitiebelle,

Oh good lord it’s awful! The worst tho is when the Red Sox play the Yankees on those Sunday Night games because Morgan is such a Yankees fan. He practically gushes whenever A-Rod comes up to hit. It’s like - why don’t you two assholes get a room??

I never knew you were a Braves fan! That’s so cool!!!

And yes - that mute button comes in handy doesn’t it? ;)

Thanks sweetie,

nina

larokkaku,

Huh. Wow, I mean, it’s just that one scene - and I can understand how she would object, but it IS fiction. Oh well - I’m not going to judge her on her principles. I understand.

And the Apollonia scene is well worth putting up with that! And there’s always DVD rentals you know…

I totally agree with you about Prince’s influence on 80’s pop music. He really blended rock & funk in such a way with the 3 minute radio friendly pop song. He took the spirit of George Clinton and & Parliament/Funkadelic and made it radio friendly and sold it.

My husband used to work in the entertainment industry and has a lot of stories - Minneapolis is a great town too! At one point he was going there all the time going thru the clubs there. And what’s really sad is the days of the cool rock club have come and gone. There’s hardly anyplace now (in my area anyway) to catch a good live show - and live music is kind-of part of who he and I are and how we started out together.

So - yes, I forgive him.

Thanks!

nina

uh-oh.
let’s not get started on the demise of local clubs for live music, a nationwide phenomena, I believe.
or live nation.
or ticket master.
my bumper sticker says “hear it live!”
it is gettin’ tougher…’nuff said.

larokkaku,

Oh yes - most definitely a nationwide phenomena. Clubs which used to have live music shows have all turned into dance clubs — which I don’t mind too too much because I like to go dancing — but I miss being able to see live shows. Ticketmaster and LiveNation have killed the live music industry. LiveNation is the final extension of Clear Channel/SFX’s efforts to consolidate the delivery side of music with radio stations, venues, artist management. It’s truly a horrible thing for music.

That’s a good bumper sticker tho!
