I have similar feelings — tho I initially was supporting her candidacy, that’s since changed. If anything, I think her campaign has served to remind me about everything I didn’t like about the Clinton years. Bob Herbert’s op-ed piece in yesterday’s NYT pretty much said it all for me.

Did you actually read that article? This never became an issue in this campaign with the media because it was much too complicated for them to dumb down to the electorate. It wasn’t easy like playing YouTube clips of Reverend Wright’s sermons.

Tho I will say this — Stephanopoulos and Gibson embarrassed themselves, and Stephanopoulos never should have been allowed by ABC to moderate that debate considering his own conflict of interest with the Clintons.

Ask 10 people on the street if they know who The Weathermen are. People don’t remember that Stephanopoulos worked for Clinton’s 92 campaign and then as his press person — no way they’ll remember the Weather Underground, or will even care.

Thank you sweetheart. Well the sad part is that Richard Nixon kept the bombing of Saigon and Cambodia going because he was paranoid about losing the 72 election. But, there was a sea change in 68 where Nixon was able to portray himself as the anti-war candidate. Remember “the great silent majority” line?

I actually admire Richard Nixon for many things. He could have gone down in history as one of this country’s greatest presidents — it was his fragility as a man which was his undoing. The most interesting thing about Nixon was that he realized in the early 70’s that we had to get off our addiction to oil.

Oh I buy that — most people are not well informed and tend to gravitate towards the things which reinforce their own worldview. Limbaugh is a radio personality — and not a very smart one at that, but he satisfies a need. Pretty interesting tho that a guy living and working out of a Palm Beach mansion manages to convince Joe Sixpack that he’s just like him.

Oh there are many problems with the Republican party — and you’re right, it is a masquerade. Much of that began with Ronald Reagan who discovered the value in galvanizing a nation behind its enemies (either real or imagined) — Bush just took that one step further.

I think the right wing racism and bigotry is real — but the “family values” shtick is just the club they use to beat everyone with. They don’t buy it.

Interestingly enough, if we examine the tactics of Nazi fascism and the current incarnation of Right Wing Republican ideology — there really isn’t a whole lot of difference, is there?

What’s been masquerading as “Republicans” have been the corporate sock puppets, asking for public welfare and handouts in the form of tax breaks. The fact that it’s came wrapped up in racism and bigotry is the strange mix.

Yeah what happened to the Tigers? Boston is up 5-0 right now in the 8th!

I know it’s early but if we look at last season, Boston took first place in the East early and never let go of it. Right now they have the same winning percentage as the Angels in the West - but in a much tougher division. NYY have collapsed as predicted, even tho they swept Seattle (big deal) — and the Red Sox keep winning.

Tho the Twins are surprising me, as are the White Sox in the Central.

Right now Obama has taken N. Carolina big and NBC hasn’t called Indiana yet, but it’s been closing tighter over the last hour. Hillary did not get any sort of “game changer” tonight.

The Republicans elected over the last 15 years cannot call themselves Republicans anymore. They’ve become the party of Wall Street and corporations, and people will punish them this time around. This election will be about the economy and people want REAL solutions this time around.

Well — according to the smart people who pay attention to these things, the group they’re watching are the so called “Reagan Democrats” — the white, under 50k a year earning class, who always votes against their own interests because they think they want to have a beer with the guy. If these people are moving to John McCain because of Rev. Wright, Flag Pins, Michelle Obama or because Rush Limbaugh tells them to — then they deserve to have their homes foreclosed upon, they deserve to pay 4+ bucks a gallon for gas, and they deserve the royal screwing the GOP has been giving them for the last 8 years.

Seriously — the media made Rev. Wright, Flag Pins and all this other bullshit the story. The problem with Kerry is that he allowed himself to be defined by the GOP and 527s, and he also lacked the full support of the DNC (then run by current Clinton fundraiser Terry McCauliffe) who perhaps turned in a lackluster performance to keep the White House open for Hillary in 2008.

If people are going to judge Barack Obama by what the cable news talking heads tell them — then good luck. We’re all screwed.
